Simpactful Deepens Retail and Operations Expertise with Former Walmart and Sam’s Club Executive, David Scogin

A seasoned leader with over three decades of global retail experience at Walmart and Sam’s Club, David brings unmatched retail, merchandising, and global operations expertise to the Simpactful team.
David’s 34-year career with Walmart Inc. includes 22 years in Vice President roles – across multiple disciplines and countries – positioning him as a dynamic force in merchandising strategy, operations, space productivity, supplier development, and international retail leadership. While at Sam’s Club, David led merchandising teams and had P&L responsibility for the high-impact categories of Dry Grocery, then Candy, Snacks, Beverage, and Commercial Bread. These multi-billion-dollar businesses grew sales and market share while driving key leadership initiatives of SKU reduction, assortment precision, and perfect planograms.
During his extensive tenure at Walmart, David played pivotal roles in China, the U.S., and the global supply chain. He was responsible for optimizing store flow and merchandise placement across various store formats to drive sales and operational efficiency, and held P&L responsibility for the highly competitive Electronics, Apparel, Home, and Hardlines categories for Walmart China while shaping merchant training and policy. David also created and led the Planning team in total Walmart Merchandising, gaining huge experience on Organization design and change management.
David and his wife, Jennifer, have resided in Arkansas since they married in 1994, except 4 years spent in Shenzhen, China. They love playing tennis and have attended all four major tennis opens (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open). David and Jennifer are looking forward to celebrating the marriage of their daughter in the coming weeks.
