With broad senior level global experience in leading CPG & Consumer Health companies in the United States, Latin America, and Europe, Rodriguez has deep international expertise in multifunctional general management, marketing, sales, and product supply.
Rodriguez joins Simpactful most recently from GSK Consumer Healthcare in London as the Senior Vice President of Global Skin Health. Prior to his time at GSK Consumer Healthcare, he held various marketing and general management leadership positions at Novartis Consumer Health in the United States, Europe, and Latin America and at Procter and Gamble. “My greatest passion and expertise lies in developing brand management capabilities to ensure the delivery of sustained business results,” adds Rodriguez “I’m excited to leverage my experience in CPG and consumer health companies to build upon Simpactful’s current capabilities in Shopper and Consumer Insights, Marketing, and ROI capabilities.”
Rodriguez thrives in retail innovation, marketing, and leading high performing teams. While at GSK Consumer Healthcare, he significantly improved the innovation pipeline value and size via “bigger and fewer” principle and focus on strategic brands while also leading the development of a new global supply strategy to improve gross margin and supply chain reliability. About the pressing issues on profitability in today’s retail environment, Rodriguez adds, “The reality is that Innovation is the lifeblood of our industry and without innovation, profit margins are reduced as commoditization takes hold. We must continue to stay one step ahead of emerging consumer and industry trends to identify new categories and product offerings that will delight shoppers and drive higher growth and profit
Rodriguez’s advice for established CPG companies is never to wait for a new competitor to disrupt your category. “CPG companies have historically created their own 'disrupters'. Think of the transition from Brand to Category management in the 1980s as an example. Today, ‘disrupter’ brands are the speedboats in a world of aircraft carriers; identifying new go-to-market models and anticipating consumer needs. CPG companies need to launch their own speedboats and/or ensure that their legacy brands anticipate or leverage their scale to quickly offset any disadvantages created by these nimble competitors.”
